It turns out Tai chi is a great activity for post-menopausal women to take up to improve muscular strength according to a study carried out by Mylene Aubertin-Leheudre, a professor of kinanthropology at Universite du Quebec a Montreal.
It seems that most women do not exercise as much post-menopause and as a result they lose muscle. Tai Chi is a great low impact activity that post-menopausal women can take up to counter age related loss of muscle strength.
According to Mylene Aubertin-Leheudre:
“The point in tai chi is you are not working on muscle mass, because it’s not (strenuous enough)… but it’s enough to (build) the strength because you are working more on strength than on mass.”
I also hear it’s fun and you learn a lot. So if you are a post-menopausal woman you should take up this activity to stay in shape and be healthy.

If you learn real Tai Ji you will gain mass! It is strenuous! Especially when you begin to use weights and weapons to train with 🙂
