Multivitamins contain important nutrients that fuel chemical reactions necessary to build muscle.  It is very difficult to get all the nutrients you need from your diet alone, hence why taking multivitamin supplements are necessary.  Below are five (5) great multivitamins to take to build muscle:

Vitamin A

Vitamin A is involved in protein synthesis which facilitates growth, repair and maintanance of your muscles.  Vitamin A also increases testosterone secretion which fuels muscle growth.    This multivitamin can be obtained from cod liver oil, liver, eggs,  beef, carrots and spinach.

Vitamin B1

A major benefit of Vitamin B1 in building muscle is the production of haemoglobin.  Haemoglobin is responsible for transporting oxygen throughout the body.  After an  intense workout your muscles will be starved of oxygen.  Taking Vitamin B1 replenishes your muscles with oxygen needed for growth and repair. Vitamin B1 also breaks down carbohydrates for energy.  It can be obtained from fooods such as bran flakes and wheat germ.

Vitamin C

Vitmain C is important in amino acid metabolism and the formation of collagen.  Collagen holds the muscles together which prevents injury.  It is also an antioxidant which means it flushes out free radicals which are harmful to the body and inhibits muscle growth and recovery.  Vitamin C also protects against tissue damage during workouts.  It is obtained from fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D absorbs calcium and phosphorous.  Calcium is important for strong bones and joints.  If your bones and joints are not strong then you will not be able to support the muscle you wish to gain.  Phosophorous sythesises ATP which is used by the muscles.  Both calcium and phosphorous is essential for the quick, powerful muscle contractions needed in weightlifting.  You can obtain it from cod liver oil, liver and sunlight.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is an antioxidant which serves to find and neutralize free radicals and flush out waste.  A healthy cardiovascular system is important for the development, growth, and recuperation of muscles.  Vitamin E can be obtained from green vegetables, raw seeds and whole grain.

No matter how hard you try it is almost impossible to obtain all of these vitamins from your diet alone.  No diet is perfect therefore taking supplements is helpful in order to facilitate all the necessary conditions to build muscle.
