In today’s society everyone seems to be opting for a quick fix, however, I firmly believe a healthy lifestyle is the long term solution to all of life’s problems.  Sleeping ailments are common among persons living in industrialized societies and many times this can be linked to insufficient exercise.

There are two types of exercises: aerobic and anaerobic exercise.  Aerobic exercises utilize

oxygen while anaerobic exercises do not.  Aerobic exercises are like walking, swimming and jogging while weightlifting is an example of an anaerobic exercise.  Both will help you to have a good nights rest.

Scientific evidence backs up the positive effects of exercise on sleep.  Exercise increases the body’s temperature which results in a consequent dip a few hours later and this process facilitates a good nights sleep.  Your heart will race faster, your muscles tense and you will be breathless during exercising, nevertheless, two or more hours consequent one will experience a tremendous lull that will be optimum for a good nights rest.  I always find the quality of my sleep greatly enhanced on the days that I weight lift.

Physical exercise also promotes the release of feel good chemicals in your body which prevents the onset depression.  Inability to sleep is a common complaint among depressed persons so counteracting this by getting involved in physical activity is a good idea.  Exercise can actually give you a chance to escape from your problems.

Physical exertion reduces stress levels which can interfere with sleep because by placing your body under physical stress you release pent up nervous tension which allows you to be better able to cope with stress.  Physical benefits from exercise range from better breath control to improved circulation.

For a good nights sleep make sure you incorporate a good exercise routine into your lifestyle.  You can never be too tired to exercise.  If you are having trouble sleeping this is usually a sign that something is not right so listen to your body and take appropriate action to correct it.
