Bodybuilding Vitamins and Supplements!

Vitamins are split into two main categories: water-soluble and fat soluble.  Fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, and K, are stored inside the body’s fat tissue, and don’t need to be restocked on a regular basis.  They’re extremely important for a person’s health, but if consumed in excess, they can be toxic.  Alternatively, water-soluble vitamins are dissolved in water, and because they cannot enter the fatty tissue, they’re excreted.  They’re not noxious at all and must be included in a bodybuilder’s daily diet under the form of supplementation.

Both water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins are equally important as they complement each other, leading to a healthy lifestyle and a fit body.  Fitness professionals in general need vitamins and supplements to boost stamina and strength during workout routines, so it’s up you to find the ones that best suit your system.

In spite of it’s great importance to the human body, Biotin is not used much by bodybuilders and fitness professionals.  They should consider it because it supports the production of energy from various sources, and at the same time it has vital functions in the amino acid metabolism.  It’s very important to be consume biotin in reasonable quantities as an excess of it can be dangerous.

Vitamin A

Most of you are probably aware that vitamin A enhances vision, yet bodybuilders need to acknowledge the other benefits too.  For instance, vitamin A plays a crucial role in the synthesis of proteins, the main process of muscle growth.  Similarly, it is involved in the natural production of glycogen, a substance that makes you stronger and intensifies physical performance.

Vitamin E

Vitamin E is known for its incredible antioxidant properties, which means that it protects the cells along with their membranes, and aids them in recovery in the event of damage.  This is a very significant because most metabolic processes that take place in our bodies, including muscle development, rely on healthy cell membranes.

Vitamin D

Vitamin D assures the absorption of Phosphorus and Calcium in the body.  Calcium is vital for muscular contraction and in it’s absence you might experience itches and even serious pain after working out.  Similarly, it will keep your bones strong, reduce the chances of them becoming broken, and will also maintain the muscular tissue in good condition.  Phosphorus is a very important substance too, being necessary for the synthesis of ATP, an energy molecule which is used by all your muscles during contraction.

Thiamine (vitamin B1)

This vitamin packs on muscle and is necessary for protein metabolism and muscular growth. Similarly, it plays a crucial role in the formation of hemoglobin, a protein included in the red blood cells, which carries the oxygen in the body and brings it to the muscles.  It’s very important for your muscles to receive the necessary amount of oxygen while you’re exercising in order to enhance athletic performance.  For this reason, Vitamin B1 must be incorporated in a bodybuilder’s diet.

Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)

Last but not least, we cannot overlook Vitamin C.   It’s very important in muscle growth as it provides excellent bodybuilding nutrients.  Thanks to the strong antioxidant properties, Vitamin C protects muscle cells from free radicals and helps them recover much faster after damage.  The vitamin is involved in the formation of collagen, so it will strengthen your bones and keep your muscles together.  This matters because lifting very heavy weights can damage your connective tissues and you may lose your strength.


Creatine helps fitness professionals grow lean muscles after a workout routine.  Most manufacturers recommend a daily dose of 3-5 g/day, especially if you’ve just started to lift weights. The supplement strengthens muscular tightening and helps athletes run faster, pump more reps, and engage in more exercise types.

Bodybuilders tend to overlook the importance of vitamins and supplements.  If you have a strict exercising program, you want to help your muscles grow and you can’t do that with a diet regime only.  You need to provide your body with vitamins that can help it boost stamina and endurance.  Note that an equilibrated diet is useless in the absence of vitamins, so get informed before starting to lift weights, and learn more about vitamins and supplements that sustain muscle building.
