New research seems to threaten the conventional belief among the muscle building community that one has to lift more to build more muscle. This concept known as Progressive Resistance has been espoused by fitness professionals all over.
According to the study, doing more reps with lighter weights can get you the exact results as training with heavy weights as long as you train to muscular failure. Ofcourse, higher reps with lower weights might lengthen your workouts but it would really be up to you to choose which method you want to get ripped.
If we believe this new research then we won’t need to lift heavy weights in order to see our muscles grow. This can be seen as good news for those who do not have access or do not want to work out with heavy weights but still want to build muscle.
